Helen L. Becker, 79, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Midland Hospice House.
She was born February 22, 1934, in Bushong, KS, the daughter of John and Isla McKinsey Shellenberger. She graduated from Bushong Rural High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia State University), in Emporia, KS. She worked as a secretary for the Sedgwick County Extension Office and then for a number of years for the Federal Land Bank in Wichita, KS. After moving to Topeka, she worked as administrative assistant to the Disciplinary Administrator for the State of Kansas, from which she retired.
Helen married Allen E. Becker on March 8, 1953 in Council Grove, KS. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dale Shellenberger. Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Falley and her husband, Mike, of Lawrence, grandsons, Jeremy and Nicholas Totten, one great-granddaughter, Katy and her sister, Darlene Rees and brother, Clyde Shellenberger.
A memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
