Helen L. Kinder

Helen L. Kinder, 81, of Topeka, died Sunday, May 9, 2004 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on April 14, 1923 at Wakarusa, Kansas, the daughter of William M. And Dorothy V. Appleton Firestone. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1942. She was employed by Whelan's Inc. for twelve years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church since July 5, 1953 where she was active in various church activities. She married Warren G. Kinder on August 5, 1941 in Topeka. He survives. She was preceded in death by one son; Ronald W. Kinder. Survivors include two sons; Steven W. Kinder of Dallas, Texas and Kim A. Kinder of Topeka, seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, three sisters; Blanche Scott of Scottsdale, Arizona, Evelyn Walters of Encinitas, California and Opal Lange of Topeka. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Hope Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Kinder will lie in state after Noon Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Memorial contributions may be given to Hope Lutheran Church, 2636 S.E. Minnesota Ave., Topeka, Ks. 66605 or to Terry C.
