Helen Marie Hopkins, 93, Topeka, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 at her home.
She was born March 28, 1914 in Hugo, Oklahoma, the daughter of Andrew and Tometia Vanderburg.
Mrs. Hopkins was a member of Community Church and was devoted to her Creator. She also was a member of Women Aglow, W.C.T.U., and the Santa Fe Auxiliary. She enjoyed long walks, picking up fall leaves, Christian music and singing. She was a loving grandmother and enjoyed fishing in her younger days as well as baking holiday candies. Her sense of humor was well-known to all those who knew her.
She married Orwin Lewis Hopkins on July 13, 1965 in Stillwell, Oklahoma. He died Oct. 29, 2001. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Clingman on April 14, 2000.
Survivors include her granddaughters, Polly Crable of Richardson, TX, Susan Jacobs of Aransas Pass, TX; a grandson, Ernest Clingman of Houston, TX; and seven great-grandchildren, Bryan, Christy, Daniel, Kirsten, Jonathan, Allie and Annie.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Community Church. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
