7. Background: Graduated from Burlington High School in 1940. He served in the US Army in WWII. He
earned a Bacholer of Science Degree in Agriculture at K-State in 1949. He farmed in Burlington and Waverly
areas until 1968. He also worked at Pibble's IGA, and Alco in Topeka, before retiring. He was a member of the
Highland Park United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the VFW. He was a volunteer driver for
Friendly Visitors of the Catholic Charities and had accumulated over 100,000 miles transporting the elderly to
doctors offices, stores, etc. for ever 15 years. He married Dixie Mabel Scott on June 20, 1954, in Kingsdown, KS.
She preceded him in death in 1977.
