Herbert M. Palmer, 87, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away January 27, 2017. He was born to Herbert Leon and Mary L. (McCall) Palmer on September 8, 1929 at McConnelsville, Ohio. He married Betty Martin in December of 1949. They were divorced. He married Patricia Woodcook in March of 1996. Both preceded him in death.
He served with the Kansas Highway Patrol Capitol Security Police for 20 years. Prior to that, he managed the J C Penney automotive store. He enjoyed working in his yard. He loved to dance, spend time with his family, and had a love for cars.
He is survived by his children: Bob (Vickie) Palmer, Carolyn (Keith) Dunn, and Chuck (Annette) Palmer; 4 grandchildren: Brad Palmer, Justin Palmer, Chrystal Rogers and Tonya Moeller; 8 great-grandchildren: Colton Palmer, Logan Palmer, DeAndre McFreen, Madison Palmer, Keelan Palmer, Paige McFreen, Trinity Altic and Isaiah McFreen; his sister, Sarah Kelley; and his brother, Carl (Janice) Palmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Bill Palmer and Edgar Palmer.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Family Life Centre on February 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
