Herman Hicks, Sr, 86, Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Detroit, MI, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at a local care center.
Herman was born August 1, 1922 in Macon, GA, the son of Marchman and Julia Hicks.
He was employed by the City of Detroit, Michigan as a pipe fitter in the Water department for over 30 years. He later owned his own Security business in Detroit.
Herman married Annie West on October 1, 1951. She survives. Other survivors include daughter, Brenda Wiley, Topeka; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and sister, Estella Cheese, Detroit, MI He was preceded in death by a son, Herman Hicks, Jr. and grandson, Tiwanne Wiley.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009 at Dove Funeral Home, 4020 SW 6th. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
