Howard D. "Bud" Benton, Jr., 79, Topeka, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at a local care center.
Bud was born June 29, 1941 in Carlsbad, NM, the son of Howard D. and Emma Irene (Moser) Benton, Sr. He graduated from Napa High School in Napa, CA and received an Associate of Arts degree from Ohlone College in Fremont, CA.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1959- 1962.
He was employed as a mechanic with United Airlines for 35 years, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Grace Community Church. He enjoyed golfing, and spending time with his family, especially all of his grandchildren.
Howard married Gloria Jean Hurlburt on September 21, 1963 in Napa, CA. She died November 26, 2017. Survivors include sons, Dana (Ruth) Benton, Topeka, Marshall "Mark" Benton, Powell, OH; foster children, Donna Miller, Deborah Miller; grandchildren, Latosha Benton, Ryan Benton, Joshua Benton; great-grandchildren, Shyann, Nikki, Erika, Xavion, Dezare`, Diamond, Isaiah; great-great-grandchildren, Sophia, Azra and Sebastion; two sisters, Allene Dering, Marcy Bentelli; and brother, Tom Benton. He was also preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Randi Crosby; and brother, James Oliver Benton.
Cremation has taken place and no local services are planned at this time.
