Howard G. Alexander, 82, of Ozawkie, KS, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born September 10, 1932 in Alta Vista, KS, the son of Henry J. and Agnes C. Buchman Alexander.
Howard graduated from St. Xavier's High School in Junction City, KS in 1950. He attended St. Benedict's College in Atchison, KS and Kansas State University. He was a S/Sgt. in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Howard resided in Junction City for 44 years prior to moving to Topeka in 1971. He was employed by Kaw Valley Bank for 35 years before retiring as Sr. Vice President on July 4, 2009.
Howard married Doris J. Dugan on August 11, 1956 in Junction City, KS. She preceded him in death on December 19, 1979. He later married Judy F. Desch on June 27, 1980 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Sherry Kesel Alexander of Topeka, Joyce (Steve) Dillon of Topeka, Judy Fearheiley of Topeka, Janet (Doug) Stortzum of Ozawkie, Nicole (Stephen) Ramer of Topeka, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, his sister, Henrietta Welker of Dallas, TX and many nieces and nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristen L. Boggs and his sister, Patsy Borders Johnson.
Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Fellowship Bible Church. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Howard will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel.
