Ida M. Davin, 94, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Midland Hospice House.
Ida was born November 26, 1914 in Havensville, the daughter of Arthur and Della (Johnson) Beach.
She worked as a nurse at the Onaga Hospital from 1946-1950. She moved to Seneca in 1955 and worked as the head cook for USD-442 from 1964 to 1972.
She moved to Topeka in 1976 where she was a Stanley dealer for over 25 years. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was a member of TOPS since 1984.
Ida married Lester Floyd Davin on January 4, 1930 in Westmoreland. He died in 1964. Survivors include daughters, Carol Thompson, Topeka, Jolene (Roger) Gleason, Parkville, MO, Julie (Bob) Wilhelm, Topeka, Jan (Jr.) Conley, Topeka; sons, Lester Davin, Austin, TX, Larry (Betty) Davin, Topeka, Randy (Diane) Davin, Topeka; 26 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and sister Olive Vorse, Topeka. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Joye Brees; grandson, Douglas Brees; 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009 at Fellowship Bible Church, 6800 SW 10th. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Onaga Cemetery. Ida will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
