Ila E. Dryden, 100, Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Lexington Park Nursing Facility. Ila was born on October 18, 1907 in Morrisonville, IL the daughter of Charles and Carrie Sloman Clower. She attended rural schools in Neosha County, KS. She has been a resident of Topeka since June 18, 1954. Ila was a member of East Side Baptist Church and taught 5th grade girls Sunday School for 38 years. Ila married Ernest R. Dryden on Dec. 14, 1929 in Chanute, KS. Having no children, they opened their hearts to all children. Ernest preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1988. Ila is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Clower of Winfield, twelve nieces and seven nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007 at East Side Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. Ila will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to ESBC Missions, 4425 S.E. 29th St., Topeka, KS 66605 or to Heart of America Hospice, 3715 S.W. 29th St., Topeka, KS 66614.
