Imogene (Queen) Reese, 84, of Tecumseh, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Kelly House II in Topeka. She was born April 22, 1927 in Black Wolf, KS, the daughter of Creed T. and Hallie E. (Hays) Queen.
Imogene grew up in the Grove area and graduated from Silver Lake High School. She was first and foremost a homemaker, working at various jobs, including the Supply Depot and Macy's Department Store.
Imogene married Virgil M. Reese on December 28, 1946 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Steven (Susan) Reese of Lincoln, NE, four daughters, Linda Durand of Valley Falls, KS, Nancy (Mike) Goodwin of Topeka, Pam (Marty) Gies of Tecumseh, Debbie (Mike) Worthington of Tecumseh, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her sister, Doris (Queen) Anderson of Silver Lake, KS. She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful staff at the Peggy Kelly House, which was her home-away-from home for many years.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery at Silver Lake. Imogene will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
