Ingeborg "Inge" Streeter, 82, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024.
She was born August 30, 1941, in Schweinfurt, Germany, the daughter of Alois and Emma (Ankenbrand) Wirsing. She became an American citizen on December 12, 1973.
Inge was employed by Adams Business Forms as a bindery worker for 30 years, retiring in 2004.
Inge participated in the German-American Club of Topeka. She managed Van Vleck's Tavern from 1963 to 1973. She volunteered at God's Storehouse from the start of their business for many years at all locations, including their current location on Chelsea. She also volunteered in the concession stand at TKQMA (Quarter Midget Assocation) Track in Topeka during the years Sturgis raced there.
Inge married Charles R. Streeter on November 19, 1960 in Germany. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2006. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Kelly (Lonnie) of Topeka and her son Charles "Chuck" Streeter Jr. (Rebecca) of Hoyt; grandchildren Kyle Kelly (Brooke), Trevor Kelly and Sturgis Streeter (Katie); great-grandson Hudson Kelly; siblings Heinz Gunther, Hanz Jurgen, Ursula Faber and Jane Titze, all of Germany; two sisters-in-law in Topeka and two in Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews in Germany and throughout the United States.
She lived in the home she built with Charles until May of 2022, when she moved to her "Castle" in the independent living at Atria (now Celebration Villa), where she was a social butterfly and made many friends while living there. She also loved going to the casino, watching her grandson race and playing Farkel.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 7th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Dove Cremations and Funerals Southeast Chapel at 2843 SE Minnesota Avenue in Topeka. A graveside burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8th, 2024 at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street in Topeka. There will be a luncheon after the service at Snyder's Cabin at Gage Park, 800 SW Porter in Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 or a charity of your choice.
