Ira J. Lester
Ira J. Lester, age 89, died March 26, 2007 after a long illness while residing in a care facility.
He was born March 16, 1918 in Wagoner, Oklahoma the son of William and Ethel Lester. At a young age Ira's family moved to the Coffeyville, Kansas area where Ira served in the Kansas National Guards Calvary.
Ira was self employed in the restaurant business in Topeka and later was a professional photographer and worked in the dietary department at Topeka State Hospital until the hospital was closed.
Ira married Elizabeth Prichett on February 16, 1967. She died May 26, 1993.
Ira is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Dew, Ponca City, OK; Virginia Marit, Coffeyville, KS; two nieces, Kay Anderson, Wichita, KS; and Rita LeMin, Claymont, DE.
At Ira's request cremation is planned and no service will be held. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
