Irene A. Schneider

Irene A. Schneider, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on July 6, 1930 in Gridley, the daughter of Conrad and Amelia Hagwal Kraft. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Topeka Baptist Church. Irene married Michael D. Schneider on November 26, 1946 in Emporia. He survives. Other survivors include three sons, Bob (Lynda) Schneider of Derby, Darrell (Carol) Schneider of Wichita, John (Rhonda) Schneider of Hoyt, two daughters, Betty (Carl) Kelly and Joyce (Maurice) Towne, both of Topeka, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one sister, Matilda Hawkins of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters and one grandson. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Irene will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Topeka Baptist Church, 4500 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS 66610.
