Ivadell "Ivy" Martin
Ivy Martin, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. She was born on May 5, 1928 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Floyd W. and Hazel A. Spangler. She was a 1946 graduate of Topeka High School.
Ivy retired following 26 years of service with the State of Kansas Division of Printing.
She was an active member of Tecumseh United Methodist Church.
She married Terry L. Martin January 22, 1949 in Topeka. He preceded her in death May 17, 1978. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dean Spangler. She is survived by her children, Terrence John (Sherry) Martin, Topeka; Anne (Ron) Attebery, Topeka; Greg (Bonny) Martin, Topeka; Merle (Betty) Martin, Berryton; Jamie (Marcus) West, Kansas City, MO; brother, Ray Spangler, Topeka; sister, Genevieve Greenlee, Crockett, TX; grandchildren, Sara Becker; Joe Deghand; Brett Ellis; Erin Leon; Dana Johnson; Julie Ellis; Marcus West; Rachael Martin; Michael West and 11 great grandchildren.
Ivy will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday August 30, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. that afternoon. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday August 31, Penwell-Gabel Cemetery at 6th and Gage. Memorial contributions may be given to the Tecumseh United Methodist Church.
