Jack Conrad Hentzler, 79, Topeka, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Brewster Place Retirement Center.
He was born Oct. 9, 1925 in Topeka, the son of William Carl and Julia Hurley Hentzler. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1943, and started work in the family business, Hentzler Packing Company. He continued to work there until the business closed in 1984. He then worked for Shawnee County Health Department for 10 years before retiring.
Mr. Hentzler was a member and former trustee of Grace United Methodist Church.
He married Marjorie Dickinsheets on Oct. 8, 1949 in Topeka. She died Jan. 27, 1997.
Other survivors include his son, Jerry Hentzler, Kingsburg, CA; three daughters, Chris Haug and Nan Gatewood, both of Topeka and Pam Joachim, Baldwin City; a brother, Herbert Hentzler, Eskridge; a sister, Marilyn Peters, Topeka; two grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob Hentzler, Kingsburg, CA.
Services will be 1:00 pm Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Hentzler will lie in state after noon Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 pm.
