Jack E. Barden Jr.

Jack Edward Barden, Jr. 62, of Topeka, formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away August 2, 2014. He was born at Des Moines, Iowa to Jack Edward Barden, Sr. and Winnifred (Short) Barden on December 26, 1951. He was raised in Des Moines and graduated from North High School in 1969. He graduated from Chapman School of Seamanship, Stuart, Florida in 1985. He served his country in the US Navy and the US Army National Guard.

Jack married Connie Jo Barden on October 15, 1975 at Bemidji, Minnesota. He was employed as the manager of Rio Valley Estates in Weslaco, Texas and the district manager at Heller Carbonic/NUCO2 in Des Moines, Iowa. Jack loved riding his motorcycle and attending Old West Cowboy Club.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; his son Tony Alden; daughters, Lisa Lockridge, Nikki Leeper, and Bobbi Barden; son-in-law Michael H. Leeper; daughter-in-law Toni Blair; his grandchildren, Michael Leroy Leeper, Paige Renae Lewis, Marion Grace Alden, Cameron Lloyd Lewis, Stephanie Lynn Lockridge, Madison Lee Sharp, Bradley Michael Lockridge, Jordan James Barden, and Jack Nicholas Barden; and his siblings, Dennis Barden, Becky Bartholemy, Audrey Rivas, Gary Barden, Michael Barden, and Patrick Barden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Edward Barden, Sr. and Winnifred Barden, and his daughter Cheryl Lynn Barden.

Burial at sea of the cremated remains is planned. A memorial plaque will be placed at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.
