Jack E. Meakins, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
Jack was born November 24, 1927 in Topeka. He was employed by ButterKrust Bakery for 33 years before retiring. He loved to play Bingo.
Jack married Wanda Holmes on October 31, 1950. They were married for 62 years. She survives. Other survivors include five children, Brenda (Jeff) Crowe, Gerald (Cora) Meakins, Shirley Meakins, Susan Desch, Darrell (Pam) Meakins, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his sister, Doris Herndon of Clifton, VA.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Jack will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
