Jack Eugene Koehlar 87, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 22,2018.
He was born May 22, 1931, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Floyd (Hank) Koehlar and Ida Mae (Smith) Koehlar. He was a 1949 Graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Jack was an avid aviator, FAA rated "Airline Transport Pilot, Multiengine Land", having logged 36,000 hours. He was employed by various Topeka Air Services for 36 years retiring in 1993.
He formed the Topeka Model Airplane Club (TOPMAC).
Survivors include a son, Jack E. Koehlar, II and his wife Lori Koehlar, Rowlett, TX; daughters, Mona R. Koehlar, Jackie A. Koehlar and Teresa M. Koehlar, Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Jason D. Benton,and Matthew Koehlar; his brother, Arthur L. Koehlar, Topeka, KS.
Jack enjoyed bird watching and traveling around the world on his computer making many great friends along the way.
Honoring Jack's request, cremation is planned. Private services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS 66604 at 11:00 a.m. gathering in fellowship hall to follow for family and friends. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, is assisting the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
