Jack D. Smith, 87, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2018.
He was born December 23, 1930 in Paola, Kansas, the son of Charles E. and Bertha A. (Webb) Ebeck.
Jack was a graduate of Olathe High School. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
He was employed by Weathercraft Roofing, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
Jack married Virginia A. Lawrence on April 8, 1972 in Gardner, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include two children, Evonne (Steve) Kitchen, Ft. Worth, TX and Alan (Tomasa) Parker, Topeka; and six grandchildren, Andrew, Evan and Ethan Kitchen, Devon, Tomasa and Annamarie Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Gail Wallace.
Jack loved to spending time with his family, reading, history, woodworking, drawing and black powder shooting.
The family will receive friends after 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2700 SE Virginia, Topeka, where a rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., at the church.
A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday at the St. Columbia Cemetery, Gardner, Kansas. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southeast Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.
