Jack W. Sossoman, 77, of Topeka, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018.
He was born July 19, 1940, in Aroma Park, Illinois, the son of John I. Sossoman II and Kathleen DuMontelle.
He graduated from Fern Creek High School in Louisville, Kentucky, and went on to enlist in the United States Air Force.
Jack married Bonnie Bryant-King. They later divorced. From this marriage were two children, Danny and Marcia.
Jack married Cindy Carvey on August 12, 1962 in Ankara, Turkey. She survives. Other survivors include children, Tanya Valdez (Mario), Todd Sossoman (Stacy), and Holly Riley; grandchildren, Brandon Telshaw, Kala Telshaw, Jonathan Sossoman, Zaydan Sossoman, Zandreah Sossoman, Braidan Sossoman, Cheyenne Riley, and Chase Riley; as well as a great-grandson, Korbin Telshaw.
He was preceded in death by sons, Danny King and James Sossoman.
Jack earned a Bachelor of Science in Pure Mathematics, Cum Laude degree from Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, Michigan, and went on to work as an Electrical Engineer for Southwestern Bell as Engineering Manager where he retired after 30 years in 1991. He went on to work at Sprint in Overland Park, KS as Senior and Sole Contributor Level Engineer, Call Center Services where he retired in 2008.
He loved golf, basketball, baseball and fishing. During his younger years he and Cindy enjoyed dancing together. Following his retirement he began to enjoy genealogy and was known to be very passionate about his politics.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Topeka Bible Church, 1101 SW Mulvane.
