Jacob Arthur Mcginnis
Jacob Arthur McGinnis, 88, Topeka, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
He was born July 21, 1918 in Topeka, the son of Jacob Abraham and Isabelle Sample McGinnis. He attended Utah State University and Washburn University.
Mr. McGinnis worked as a field representative for KPERS for several years before retiring. He served in the US Army from November, 1940 to September, 1944. He was past president of the 35th Division Association, Philip Billard Post #1650 V.F.W., Capital Post #1 American Legion, and St. David's Episcopal Church.
He married Dorothy Lee Swischer on July 1, 1950. She died May 14, 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Taylor of Santa Monica, CA, and two sons, Steven McGinnis of Pleasanton, CA and Michael McGinnis of Topeka. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Friday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery with an honor guard from Ft. Riley providing military honors.
Mr. McGinnis will lie in state from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Thursday at Newcomer Family Funeral Home.
