Jakob D. O'Kane

December 19, 1994 — July 16, 2024

Jakob D. O'Kane, 29, of Topeka, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.  Jakob was born December 19, 1994 in Liberal, Kansas, the son of Patrick M. and Kristi M. (Grace) O'Kane.

Jakob graduated from Olathe Northwest High School where he was in the Aerospace Engineering program, on the varsity bowling team, and captain of the varsity soccer team. Jakob went on to attend Kansas State University in the Civil Engineering program.  He was employed by his family business, Budget Blinds of Topeka and Manhattan.

Jakob enjoyed his work and meeting new people, as well as playing golf, and spending time with his two dogs, Frank and Rusty. Jakob also enjoyed helping others and traveled several times to rural areas of Guatemala and Panama to assist in implementing Rotary Global Grants with his dad and other Rotarians from several states.

Jakob is survived by his parents, Patrick and Kristi O'Kane of Topeka, one sister, Macayla O’Kane of Topeka, his paternal grandmother, Gayle O'Kane of Watkinsville, Georgia, and his maternal grandmother, Loretta Keever of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, two nieces, Artemis Pittman and Zoie Fulton and one nephew, Elijah Pittman all of Topeka. Jakob is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins from both sides of his family.

A Celebration of Jakob's Life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Capital City KOA, 1949 SW 49th St., Topeka, Kansas 66609 on the north side of the big red barn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to a charity close to your heart. Jakob would have wanted those in need, and in particular children, to be taken care of. The family will be establishing a memorial scholarship fund in Jakob’s name at a future date as well.
