James A. "Jim" Martin, 70, Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Midland Hospice House.
Jim was born June 23, 1937 in Cumming, GA. the son of Byrl and Beaulah (Watson) Martin.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958 and four years in the Air Force Reserve.
He worked for Southwestern Bell for 32 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Mayetta Masonic Lodge #393.
Jim married Frances "Dusty" Martin on October 18, 1958. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Lisa Gayle Martin, Lori Ann Martin; son, Bradley James Martin, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Sara Martin Myer, Brady James Martin, Lindsey Elizabeth Martin and Bradley James Martin, II; sister, Byrlene M. Parker; and brother, Ralph B. Martin, both of Canton, GA; two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Jim will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. today and visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
