James A. "Jim" Mock, age 76, of Topeka, KS passed away on August 20, 2011, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He had lung cancer.
He was born April 3, 1935, in Topeka the son of Max F. and Ethel Freeman Mock. His family moved to Sabetha when he was 3 months old. He was married to Mary Ann Miller June 5, 1954 in Sabetha, Kansas. She Survives. He graduated from Sabetha High School in 1953. Jim then attended Washburn University in Topeka and Colorado College in Colorado Springs Colorado. Jim was in the business of banking for 41 years and was with eight different banks during his career across the states of Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado. He was president or CEO at five of these banks.
Other survivors include daughters, Debbra Bennett (Rod), Littleton, Colorado; Cheryl Lundin (Ray), Topeka, Kansas and Jamie Boring (Paul), Canon City, Colorado. Grandchildren James (Judy) Bennett, Khrysti Bennett, Jessica Lundin, and a great-granddaughter Katherine Bennett. A step-mother, Marge Mock, Sabetha; sister Jeannine A. Mock, Overland Park and step- sister Leslie Lines, Overland Park. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Mock; his father Max F. Mock; a brother Jack Mock and an infant brother Donald Mock.
Service will be held in Topeka at Penwell-Gable Southwest Chapel Thursday August 25th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be at a later date in the Sabetha Cemetery, Sabetha, KS.
