James A. Slayter, Jr, 83, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Colmery O'Neil VA Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1931 in Chadron, Nebraska, the son of James A. and Letha Slayter, Sr.
James was an Air Force Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was employed as a machinist for Par Mac.
James married Arlene L. Lignitz. She survives. Other survivors include children, Deanne Malucha, Sandy Zabriskie and Jay Slayter, Sherry Warner, Steve Herrick, Randy Herrick, Russell Herrick and Scott Herrick, 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by one grandson.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Topeka Cemetery where Military Honors will be presented by Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, MO. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
