James (Jim) Bossert passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the age of 84.
Jim Bossert was the son of Gust & Pauline Bossert, born in Fort Yates, ND. Jim graduated from McLaughlin High School in South Dakota. After graduating he went to work for Moreau Grand Electric and married Joyce Johnson a school teacher in McLaughlin. Jim & Joyce recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They had one son Kurt who lives in Topeka, KS.
Jim started raising cattle in the '60s and in the early '70s he left his job with Moreau Grand and purchased the local bowling alley running it for 4 years with his wife. They then sold it and he ranched full time. He also worked for 25 years at the local livestock sales auction house running the scales, never missing a single sale in all 25 years. For many of those years he also ran the scale at Mobridge Livestock Auction House.
In 2011 Jim & Joyce moved to Mobridge, SD. Then in 2015 they moved to Topeka, KS to be close to their son and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Joyce; son Kurt and wife Andi; grandson Paul Bossert and wife Hannah and their three children; granddaughter Jamie Stafford and husband Jason and their two children; granddaughter Tracy Broxterman and husband Joel and their five children; step-grandchild Cassandra Campbell and husband Darren and their five children.
He was a real "go getter"!!! Here is to all of the South Dakotans that knew Jim.
The funeral for Jim will be 10:00am on December 17th at the southwest Dove Southwest Chapel located at 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka, KS.
An additional service and the burial will be at 11:00am on December 19th at the Kesling Funeral home located at 120 West Grand Crossing, Mobridge, SD.
