James C. Ashlock, 68, of Topeka, passed away June 28, 2015. He was born November 26, 1946 at Wichita, Kansas to Wesley and Harriett (Rose) Ashlock. Jim was raised in Tempe, Arizona and graduated from Tempe Union High School in 1964. He earned his bachelor degree from Friends University.
He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam era as an electronics technician. He was awarded the National Defense and Vietnam Service medals and also received a Purple Heart. Jim was employed by the State of Kansas for 22 years as an Information Services Specialist.
Golfing was his passion! He also liked to paint landscapes and loved to sing Karaoke. He was a past Post Commander of VFW 1650.
Jim is survived by his children: Jason, Elaine and Sara; his father, Wesley Ashlock; two brothers: Dan and Ken Ashlock; and three grandchildren: Krystal, Indiana and Alexis. He was preceded in death by his mother.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at VA All Faith Chapel, Bldg. #23 (between Bldg. #1 and #6) on the Colmery-O'Neil VMAC Campus at 2200 SW Gage, Topeka, Kansas. Inurnment will take place at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ.
