James J. Finn

James J. Finn passed away on July 14, 2022, in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on August 5, 1941, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of John and Mary Finn. He was a graduate of West High School in Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota.

Jim was a resident for many years in Topeka and worked as a social worker at the Veterans Administration and at Menninger Clinic. Always astute in his observations and keenly attuned to those he worked with, he benefitted many with his clinical acumen.

Jim was a member of Good News Church in Topeka. He was a part of Kids Zone Ministry and greatly enjoyed this. He was dearly loved by the children he worked with. He was a well-trained facilitator in Theophostic Prayer and used this ministry to work under the grace of God in the process of the inner emotional healing of others.

Jim was a scholar of the Bible and immersed himself fully in the Word. He was able to impart his Biblical wisdom uniquely and profoundly. His knowledge of history and his attention to varied views of history were difficult to parallel.

Jim was a studied naturalist and could identify flora and fauna expertly. His love of nature was striking and infectious. He was a lover of bees, trees, and birds. In addition, Jim's heart was filled with so much love and joy when his dog Pip entered the room. Pip will miss Jim very much.

Jim is survived by his siblings John Finn (Lynn), Tom Finn (Susan), and Kerry Levy (Michael). Jim loved his family and will be greatly missed by them. A memorial service in Topeka will take place at the Good News Church at 3819 SW Burlingame Road in Topeka on Saturday, August 20th at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation from 9:30 a.m until the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Good News Church Kids Zone Ministry, 3819 Burlingame Road, Topeka, Kansas 66609.
