James H. White, 72, of Berryton, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at his home. He was born December 6, 1942 in Topeka, the son of Wilbur J. and Violet D. Smoots White. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1960 and attended Washburn University.
James was a Marine Corps Veteran during the Vietnam War. He received many medals and awards for his marksmanship.
He was a lifetime member of the NRA and was an avid dirt track stock-car racer.
James married Jo Ann Lindbloom on October 25, 1966 in Oklahoma. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Roxi White of Berryton, and his siblings, Donna Calbeck of Wichita and Janette Anguish of Meriden.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Graveside committal services will follow in American Cemetery, Osage City, KS. James will lie in state and the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
