James Howard Holden, 82, of Hoyt, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021.
He was born December 10, 1938, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Walter and Sadie Frances (Donahue) Holden.
Jim was employed by the Duffens and later Carrier and Cramer Eye Doctors, retiring in 2012.
Jim married Patsy Coffman on August 21, 1960 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2017. Survivors include his children, Rhonda Holden (Jim Riley) of Hoyt, Jimmy Eugene Holden of Hoyt, and Karla Burniston (Stewart) of Topeka; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Brandon, Bradley, Brendon, Jessie, Cassie, and Cory; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sadie; one granddaughter Alexa; and his siblings Doyal Holden, Vi Freeman, Earlis Freeman, Goldie Sutton, Shirley McCorkill, and Nita Bruce.
Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and cracking jokes.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 27th at 2:00 PM. Cremation will follow the ceremony. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312.
