James George "Jimmy" Howland, 64, of Topeka, Kansas passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at a Topeka hospital. He was born May 29, 1948 in Torrence, California, the third of nine children born to Kenneth O. and Winifred (Spicklemeier) Helstrom Howland.
Jimmy attended school in Topeka. He served in both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army for 7 ½ years during the Vietnam War. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #1650.
Survivors include his brothers, Ronnie Howland of Mesa, Arizona, Kenneth Howland, Bill "Butch" Howland, David Howland, all of Topeka; sisters, Shirley Howland-Parison of Holton, Annie Howland-Cain of Topeka; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Howland; sister, Faye Howland; and a niece, Rita R. Waterman.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 2:00PM at the Eagles Lodge, 2941 SE Fremont, Topeka, Kansas.
