James I. Goenour
James I. Goenour, 95, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at a Topeka care center.
He was born October 21, 1907 in Topeka, KS the son of Oscar Cecil and Nora Maude (Huyett) Goenour.
He owned and operated Goenour Decorationg Company until his retirement in 1970.
Mr. Goenour was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1950.
He married Minnie May Whitaker October 21, 1926 in Lawrence, KS. She preceded him in death two days before their 71st wedding anniversary. He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mildred Richey, Ethel Goenour, Norma Hagan and 1 brother Jacob Goenour. Survivors inlcude:
two daughters, Barbara Poe Thornton, CO
Phyllis Lillie Topeka, KS
5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2003 in Klasse Chapel at First United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends from 2:30 pm -3:00pm at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to First United Methodist Church or Heart of America Hospice. Newcomer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
