James L. Current

James L. Current, 72, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at his residence. He was born on February 7, 1933 in Goodland, Ks. the son of Charles and Katherine Harper Current. He was an Air Force veteran. He was employed by the State of Kansas. He was a member of Highland Heights Christian Church. He married Carolyn R. Lewis. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1994. Survivors include one son, Curtis Current of Auburn, one daughter, Janet DeVoe of Topeka, seven grandchildren, one brother, Charles Current of Colorado, two sisters, Marian McKinley of Norton and Twila Saloga of Minnesota. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Heights Christian Church. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens where military honors will be presented by Philip Billard Post No. 1650, V.F.W. Mr. Current will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening.
