James Mcbride

James T. "JT" McBride, 82, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at a local hospital. JT was born September 27, 1926 in Warren, AR, the son of Kelly and Virginia (House) McBride. He grew up in both Warren and Banks, AR.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed as an Iron worker for Iron Workers Local #10 for 43 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1 in Topeka.

JT married Evelyn M. Massek on October 13, 1950 in Oklahoma City, OK. She survives. Other survivors include daughter, Mary A. (Gary) Moore, Berryton; grandchildren, Christy and William McBride, Salina, Scott, Ryan and Brittany Moore, all of Berryton; sisters, Evelyn Windham, Bernice Ragar; brother, Kelly McBride; and daughter-in-law, Debbie McBride. He was preceded in death by a son, James T. McBride, Jr; sister, Marcelle Harden; and brother, Frank McBride.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 13, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. JT will lie in state at the funeral home after 1:00 pm on Sunday and visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
