James Michael Merryman
James Michael "Mike" Merryman, 62, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at his home.
Mike was born October 9, 1947 in Topeka, the son of Norman D. and Betty R. (Haefele) Merryman. He graduated from Topeka West High School in 1965. He attended Kansas University, Washburn University, and E.C.P.I. in Kansas City and received a certificate in Computer Programming.
He was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 25 years and Blue Cross & Blue Shield for the past 14 years.
Mike married Kathy Goodrich on November 28, 1970 in Amarillo, TX. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Justin (Jaimee) Merryman, Topeka, Marc (Mandy) and granddaughter, Tinley Merryman all of Olathe; brother, Jerry (Deana) Merryman, Grantville; sister, Diane (Bob) Wilkin, Burlingame; and his mother, Betty Merryman, Topeka. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Merryman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mike will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5375 SW 7th, Topeka, KS 66606 or Topeka Bible Church, 1101 SW Mulvane, Topeka, KS 66604.
