James P. Gooch

March 17, 1934 — May 15, 2015

James Patrick "Pat" Gooch, 81, of Winchester, Kansas passed away May 15, 2015. He was born on March 17, 1934 at Kansas City, Kansas to Ashford A. and Cecilia E. (Mamie) Gooch. He was raised in Turner, Kansas and attended St. John's Catholic Grade School. Pat graduated from Bishop-Ward High School in Kansas City, Kansas.

Pat served in the US Army during the Korean conflict from 1956 to 1958. Pat was married to Freda L. Fletcher on October 4, 1958 at St. John's Parish in Kansas City, Kansas. He was employed for 25 years by Griffin Wheel as a factory worker. He worked as a truck driver for Century Concrete for 15 years and also drove for Meier Ready Mix. Pat was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas and Sacred Heart of Tonganoxie, Kansas .

Pat is survived by his wife of 56 years, Freda L. Gooch of the home; his son Jim (Deanna) Gooch of Denison, Kansas; 2 sisters: JoAnn Gooch and Jeanette Gooch both of Denver, Colorado; 2 grandsons: Tyler (Amanda) Gooch of Oskaloosa, Kansas and Shane Gooch of Denison, Kansas; and 2 great-granchildren Isabella "Izzy" and Peyton Gooch. Pat was preceded in death by his mother in 1978, his father in 1983 and his daughter Lisa L. Gooch in 2004.

Pat was an avid hunter and had special bonds with his bird dogs, Pat, Lady and Lacy. He also loved antique cars and was quite a history buff. He never met a stranger. Every person that met him, held a special place in their hearts for him. He loved animals of any kind and it is thought that he may have even loved his cat, Tiger more than his family! Pat was a wonderful husband, loving father and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew they were very much loved.
