James W. "Jim" Carver, 77, Topeka, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital.
Jim was born April 22, 1936 in Carbondale, the son of Alta and Lena (Turner) Carver. He graduated from Highland Park High School.
He was a clerk in the Revenue/Accounting division of Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad for 38 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Colly Creek Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses and the Santa Fe Old Timers.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and restoring his 1926 Model-T.
Jim married Charlotte Stone. They later divorced. He married Dorothy Mae Carver on May 26, 1972 in Junction City. She died May 17, 2013. Survivors include daughters, Diane (David) Palmer, Topeka, Cherie (Joseph) Stude, Bonner Springs; sons, Draque (Lisa) Carver, Ozawkie, Lance Carver, Topeka, Marc (Tammy) Carver, Kansas City, Nile Scott Carver, Streetsboro, OH, Quentin (Cara) Carver, Auburn; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nadine Davila, Alice Carver, Dorothy Jackson, Lorie Farley; and brothers, Don Carver and Paul Carver.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 4230 SW Gage, Topeka, Kansas 66610. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Kingdom Hall one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses or Helping Hands Humane Society.
