James Williams

James "Les" Williams, 58, Topeka, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 13, 2015.

Les was born July 1, 1957 in Topeka, the son of James Williams and June Walton. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1975.

He worked for Cargill Milling for over 33 years, retiring in 2012 and currently was employed as a baker at McCrite's Retirement Home.
He was a member of True Light Baptist Church.
He was an avid Chiefs fan, enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Les married Vivian Yeargin on December 19, 1997. She survives. Other survivors include step-children, Antwan, Travis and Catriece; 7 grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Maxine) Jackson, David Carter, Garnett Williams, George (Kerri) Walton, Jr., Lawrence Grubbs, Joseph "Bugsy" Williams and Brian Dean Williams and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John Williams, Dennis Grubbs and sisters, Pam Emanuel and Margo Stringfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota.
