Janet R. Lockhart, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at a Topeka care facility. She was born July 22, 1937 in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Ruth (Hughbanks) White.
Janet and her husband, Lyle owned and operated Hickory Grove Bar & Grill in Tecumseh for many years.
Janet married Lyle Lockhart on November 22, 1952 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2009.
Survivors include children, Mike (Patti) Lockhart of Paxico, Terri (Don) Fricks of Delta, Colorado, Lorri (Scott) Weddle of Wakarusa, eight grandchildren, Mickey (Crystal) , Lee (Taryn) , Jennifer, Trisha, Toni, Justin (Carolyn) , Sean and Josie (Ryan), seventeen great-grandchildren, and her brother, Ron (Linda) White of Waco, Texas.
As per Janet's wishes, cremation has taken place. Private graveside inurnment will take place in Emmanuel Cemetery southeast of Topeka at later date.
Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
