Janet Weiner

Jan Weiner passed away at home in Topeka, Friday, June 1st, 2012. She was born Janet Henrietta Katzinger December 14, 1935 in Atlantic City, N.J. to Richard David Katzinger, a shoe store owner, and his wife, Wilma (Eiseman) Katzinger. Shortly after graduating from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA., she married Dr. Myron (Mike) Weiner and moved to Dallas where she lived for 20 years. While in Dallas, Jan completed post graduate courses in Art History and Interior Design at Southern Methodist University and started her business, JAN WEINER interiors. Mike and Jan had two sons, Daniel "Danny" and Gary. In addition to her role as a mother and business woman, Jan took pride in her contributions as one of the founding members of Temple Shalom in Dallas. For the past 36 years, Jan has resided in Topeka, KS and Kansas City, MO where she enjoyed a long and successful career as an art dealer. She established relationships with regional, national and international artists bringing their work to personal as well as corporate collections.

Jan is predeceased by her father in 1981, her mother in 1946 and her brother, William, in 1934.

She is survived by Jerry Skinner, of Topeka, KS, Jan's loving companion of 34 years; her sister, Ann K. Johnstone of Hallandale, Florida; her niece, Wendy J. Riggs of New Freeport, PA; her son, Daniel Weiner and wife Wendy and their two daughters Carly and Maddie, of Plano, Texas; her son Gary Weiner and wife Mary Anne and their three sons Lee, David and Jack, of Salina, KS; and countless artists for whom she cared deeply .

Services and a Meal of Condolence will take place on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 11:00am at Temple Beth Sholom, 4200 SW Munson Avenue in Topeka, KS.
