Janice L. Kavanaugh, 76, Carbondale, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at a local hospital.
Janice was born January 9, 1938 in rural Dickinson County, the daughter of George and Genevieve Eutsler. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1956.
She worked as an Optician at Hawkins Optical for over 35 years, retiring in 2008.
She was an active member of Light of the World Christian Center.
Janice married Kenneth Kavanaugh on May 23, 1959. He preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters, Kelly Shrimplin, Carbondale, Kristine Kavanaugh-Stangis, Overbrook; grandchildren, Capri, Joey, Heather, Brandy, Ryan, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Brenton, Taylin, Andrew, Theron, Bethany, Molly, Kellyn, Lily; and siblings, Gary Egbert, David Eutsler, Jane Miller, and Georgia Page. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Kay Euster.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Light of the World Christian Center. Burial will follow at the Carbondale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
