Janise Long, 88, of Topeka, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021.
She was born August 6, 1932, in Troy, Kansas, the daughter of Walter Edward and Jewell Kloss (Dawson) Myers. She was a graduate of Oskaloosa High School, Oskaloosa, KS and attended Ottawa University and Washburn University.
Janise was employed by USD 501 School District for many years until retiring.
She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Topeka.
Janise married Charles G. Long on May 25, 1952 in Oskaloosa, KS. He preceded her in death May 29, 2011. Survivors include two children, Mark (Dawn) Long of Newbury Park, CA and Susan (Clifton) Askren of Holton, KS; six grandchildren, Steven A. Younger, Jamie E. (Natasha) Askren, Kasey L. Miller, Shawn C. Younger, Kristen R. Long, and Christopher C. Long; six great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Emma, Kara, Jaxon, Aubrey and Atalie; and a brother, Ronald Myers of El Dorado, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Spencer Taylor Younger; her sister, Mary Lee Stelting; and her brother, Roger Myers.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison St, Topeka, KS 66612. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family. Private family inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
