Jay Langness

Martin "Jay" Langness, 55, of Auburn, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015. He was born December 26, 1959, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of Philip B. and Strelsa Lee (Sears) Langness.

Jay was raised in Lincoln and attended the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Missouri. At age 15, Jay moved to San Francisco. Following high school, Jay joined the U.S. Navy and served for 10 years. During his service in the Navy, he became a Special Aviation Med Tech, taking care of the pilots aboard the aircraft carrier to which he was assigned. He was also assigned to be the head of the Aircraft Mishap Team, which attended to all aircraft accidents and injuries. Upon leaving the Navy, Jay entered the Pharmaceutical Industry and became the Manager of Pharmaceutical Research for his company.

Jay married Lisa Borck on June 15, 1988 at Virginia Beach, Virginia. Survivors include his mother, Strelsa (Sydney) Langness of Lincoln, NE; life-long partner, Lisa Langness; daughter, Melissa Langness, of San Francisco, CA; son, Tommy Ryan of Seattle, Washington; brothers, Mike and Ken Langness of Lincoln, NE; 4 granddaughters and 1 grandson. He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Langness.

Jay was a kind, intelligent, and good-hearted man who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved playing with his 3 dogs, Gypsy, Ben and Carly, watching football and baseball, and The History Channel.

Jay was cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at Noon, Saturday, March 7, 2015, at "The Cabin" at Maple Hill, 33002 Buffalo Mound Road, Maple Hill, KS 66507. Private interment of the cremated remains will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to assist the family may be sent in care of the funeral home.
