Jean A. Colter

Jean A. Colter, 74, of Tecumseh, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 at a Topeka hospital. She was born January 12, 1942 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of John and Virginia (Ricksecker) Innes.
Jean graduated from Topeka High School in 1960 and attended Washburn University. She was employed by Kansas Building Insurance Workers Compensation Fund before retiring. She was a member of the Topeka Insurance Professionals.
Jean married Charles H. Colter on June 4, 1961 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Tracy (Greg) Patrick, Lisa (Bob) Stevenson, Tim (Lisa) Colter, eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and her siblings, John Innes, Debby Walburn, James Innes and Polly McInroy.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Jean will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601.
