Jean E. Peterka, 90, of Manhattan, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, passed away July 30, 2014. She was born September 7, 1923 in Ordway, Colorado to Carl and Mary (Shea) Werly. Jean graduated from Augusta Kansas High School and Wichita Business College.

She married Orland Joseph Peterka on September 25, 1943 at Wichita. He preceded her in death on November 22, 2011. Jean worked as a secretary at Boeing Air Craft in Wichita. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church group in Wichita and the Meadowlark Hills exercise group in Manhattan.

Jean is survived by her daughters Carole Knightley of Wichita, Nancy Anderson of Tulsa, OK and Kim O'Donnell of Manhattan; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother Warren Joseph Werly of Topeka.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1321 N. Stratford Lane, Wichita,KS, Saturday, August 2, 2104 at 9:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter O'Donnell officiating. Inurnment will be at Ascension Resurrection Cemetery and Mausoleum in Wichita.

In lieu of flowers, please offer masses for Jean at your local parish church or memorial donations may be made in her memory to 7 Dolors Church, 731 Pierre St. Manhattan, KS 66502.
