Jean ValJean Gates, 84, formerly of Topeka, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004 in Redondo Beach, Calif., where she had lived since 2001.
She was born Dec. 4, 1919 in Army City, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Ruth Harbaugh Barrett. She lived most of her life in Topeka.
Survivors include her son, Ted Nash, Torrence, CA, two sisters, Dorothy Barrett Dain, Topeka, MAry Jane Horscek, Tulsa, OK, two brothers, Luther Barrett, Escanaba, MI, Fred F. Barrett, Conway Beach, SC, four grandchildred and three great-granddaughters.
Private burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
