Jean "JD" Dale Lauver, 93, lifelong Topeka resident, passed away December 31, 2016. He was born in Topeka to Fred N. and Jesse (Jarvis) Lauver on March 3, 1923. JD graduated from Highland Park High School. He married Ruth M. Tripp of Bramer, MO on July 24,1943. She was one of twelve sisters and had one brother. He and Ruth enjoyed dancing, especially swing and ballroom dance, as well as hunting together.
JD worked as a gunsmith and owned High Plains Gun Shop. He was a member of Town & Country Christian Church where he and his wife started the Seekers Sunday School Class, NRA life member, Moose, Capitol City Gun Club and the Kansas State Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and competed in high power and small bore shooting. He competed at Camp Perry which is a national competition held in northern Ohio.
JD is survived by his son, Jean "Dale" Lauver, Jr. (Linda) of Topeka and his daughter Sharon K. Prosser of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth and his brother Fred W. Lauver.
Funeral services will be held at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
