Jeanne L. Carr

Jeanne Carr, 90, of Rossville, Kansas, formerly of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away November 25, 2017. She was born on June 30, 1927, at Caldwell, Kansas to James and Belle (Hearlson) Whitesell. Jeanne spent the majority of her life in Kansas but also lived in California, Missouri and Oklahoma.
Jeanne married Edwin Carr. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Copeland Trucking Company and O.J. Watson Trucking Company and was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
She enjoyed quilting, painting, gardening, golfing, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and Scrabble. She made lap quilts and walker bags for a nursing home while living in Oklahoma. She especially loved spending time with her family. She had a special connection with each one of her grandchildren and was known to let them eat chocolate cake or pie if they wanted it for breakfast!
Jeanne is survived by her son, Richard Duncan (Kaye) of Topeka; her sister, Pat Miller of Murfeesboro, TN; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin, her son, Dale Duncan, 5 sisters and one brother.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00AM on December 9, 2017 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Shawnee, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3625 SW 29th Street, Topeka, KS 66614.
