Jennet Jones, 79, Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at a local hospital.
Jennet was born October 22, 1936 in Keytesville, MO the daughter of Hollis and Kathryn (Behrens) Grossman. She graduated from Keytesville High School and Washburn University with a degree in Home Economics.
She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority where she had served as Secretary, Auxiliary of American Legion Post 400, and the Telephone Pioneers.
She was employed with Southwestern Bell for 37 years, working as a Manager in the Traffic Department and later for the Kansas Turnpike Authority for 19 years as a Toll collector, retiring in December, 2014.
Jennet married Robert Jones on June 7, 1978 in Las Vegas, NV. He survives. Other survivors include siblings; J. C. Grossman, Jon Grossman, Jane Huels; step-children, Mike (Evelyn) Jones, Kelli Jones; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and beloved pets, Rinny and Buffy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the America City Cemetery in America City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
